DONINGTON RACE - RES SOFTWARE
VEIDEC RACING TEAM READ DUTCH VERSION

Sunday, 28th June 2009
RES Software Veidec Racing Team rider Arie Vos got close to his second points-scoring race of the 2009 World Supersport season. Starting from 19th place on the grid, Arie managed to finish 16th at Donington Park. Unfortunately, team mate Robbin Harms and Jesco Günther didn’t finish the race, as both were forced to retire with technical problems on their bikes.

The whole weekend went well for Dutchman Arie Vos, who is making good progress in his first World Supersport season. Arie felt comfortable at the English track, but lost feeling in his arm during the race, which stopped him from pushing hard to get into a points-scoring position.

His team mate Jesco Günther was struggling with his bike set-up during the weekend at Donington, but in warm-up his machine worked well and the German rider felt comfortable, which looked positive for the race. Unfortunately after only five laps, the Honda’s engine broke and Günther had to return to the pits.

Robbin Harms also had a very difficult weekend. His team finally found a perfect race set-up and, starting from 21st position, the fast rider from Denmark was soon on his way to the front to score some good points. But after six laps Robbin’s engine also gave up and he had to park his Honda next to the track.

Milan Milovanovic, Team owner:
“We made good progress with Arie and he really had a good weekend at Donington Park, but unfortunately we had bad luck on our side with our other two riders, Robbin and Jesco. It took us three practice sessions to find the right setting for Robbin’s bike, and after the warm-up we made the right changes and had a competitive machine, but then his engine broke in the race and we still have no idea how what happened. With Jesco it was the same story; his bike worked well today and he felt good, but after a few laps he also had to stop because of an engine problem. We need to find out what this problem is and come back strong in Brno.”

Arie Vos, 16th place:
“It all went well during warm-up this morning, until I had a crash in which I landed on my arm and shoulder. I felt good enough to ride the race and my mechanics prepared my bike well but after five laps my arm started to bother me. From that moment on my race was very difficult. I couldn’t manage to keep the pace up and started to lose the feeling in my arm, which made it impossible to keep pushing. Unfortunately I couldn’t battle for points the way I wanted, and I am sure that without that problem I would have been in a good position to score some points. The next round is at Brno, where I will be battling hard again!”

Robbin Harms, DNF:
“I had a tough weekend and we were really struggling to find the right set-up. After the warm-up we found the problem and my team provided me with a very good racing bike, which was very positive. I started the race a little carefully from 21st position and I was even riding down in 25th position after the start, but as soon I noticed that everything worked perfectly I started to push, got into a fast rhythm and moved up to 11th place. I really felt comfortable on the bike and the race went well – until the moment my engine broke. It is unbelievable that the machine just stopped, and I am naturally very disappointed about that, but I am happy that I have back a good racing bike back again.”

Jesco Günther, DNF:
“I made a very good start, but just in front of me somebody was sliding a lot and I had to avoid him. That costs me about 6 or 7 places. I think I made a good enough charge to score points here as my bike felt good, I was confident and the general race pace was not too fast. But then my engine broke and this forced me out on the spot. It is such a shame that again I had to quit a race, but I hope I have now had all the bad luck for this season and that I can prove myself again in Brno.”
