The RES Software Veidec Racing Team of Arie Vos, Robbin Harms and Jesco Günther qualified today for the World Supersport round at Donington Park in England. The rider from Oss, Arie Vos, felt comfortable at the track and rode his Honda CBR600RR round for as many laps as possible to learn the circuit properly. He eventually got his bike onto the fifth row of the grid for the race on Sunday, finishing in 19th place. Team mates Robbin Harms and Jesco Günther were both struggling with their bikes’ set up and ended the session in 21st and 25th places, respectively.
The Danish rider in the team, Robbin Harms, expected to be back in the top twelve again after his crew made some adjustments on the electronics, but things didn’t turn out as they hoped. Harms crashed in qualifying and had to complete the session on his spare bike. 21st place was the best he could manage.
RES Software Veidec Racing Team rider Jesco Günther also had a tough day at the English track. His crew made some changes on his Honda CBR600RR but Günther just couldn’t get the right feeling on it, and ended up the qualifying in 25th place.
Milan Milovanovic, Team owner:
“We started with a good practice session this morning. We had to make some adjustments on the bikes, but they seemed to work well during qualifying. Then Arie set a reasonable time and we didn’t have any problems during the session with his Honda. But we really didn’t expect to struggle so much with Robbin’s machine. We need to work hard this evening to solve the problems so he has a competitive bike tomorrow. We will also change Jesco’s bike back to how it was previously, and hopefully we’ll have a better result tomorrow!”
Arie Vos, 19th place, 1’34.020
“It all went well today and I started to like this track even more then I did before! I am setting fast times, especially in the first sector, but when the track starts to rise in elevation, I am losing speed. I think I can be even faster in the first sector and we will make some changes with the gearing again to improve it even more. I am happy with the chassis and the suspension; we just need to make some small changes for the race tomorrow. I hope it will be dry, and I am looking forward to battle for points again during the race.”
Robbin Harms, 21st place, 1’34.220
“Today was a very difficult day and I am not happy at all. After yesterday’s practice, I thought we were moving in the right direction, but I couldn’t find the pace this morning. We changed some things on my bike for qualifying but I lost the front with 30 minutes still to go and had to go on out on my second machine to finish the session. It was the first time I had used that bike at Donington Park and we were not able to find the right settings in the last 30 minutes to set a good lap time. There is a lot of work to do for tomorrow, and I hope we can solve the problems.”
Jesco Günther, 25th place 1’34.851
“I am really disappointed with today’s result. After the good pace I had in Misano, I thought we were on the right track again and that it could be possible to get into the top 15 at Donington Park as well. But the changes we made on the front end didn’t help me go faster, and it took away the comfortable feeling I had before and that is really a shame. Now we will readjust the bike back to the way it was before, because that felt best. I hope I feel comfortable on my bike tomorrow and get some good points.”
