The final at Santa Pod was a perfect ending for Team VEIDEC in the Pro Stock Bike-championship. The young Karl Lyrén made it to the finals, his first in his rookie season.
All year long Karl Lyrén has improved as a rider. He was the youngest driver in Team VEIDEC and the team put no pressure on him this season. Karl himself had also modest expectations when the season started, but step by step he has improved and the goals have shifted.
- Honestly I could not have believed that I would reach the final in my first season. I thought that it might happen next year, but not already this season. I´m so happy, Karl says after the final.
At Santa Pod he also made his fastest run for the season stopping the clock at 7,24 seconds. The young driver showed coolness when it was needed the most. For the team manager and Karls father, Roger Lyrén, the success has also been a big surprise. He knew that his son had the talent but could not have imagined this kind of results.
- I´m totally speechless. He did everything right this weekend, Roger says.
The final was also a success for Stavros Svrachos. He made some good runs but lost in the semifinals to the champion Ulf Ögge. The third driver in Team VEIDEC, Kennth Vik had a lousy weekend. He broke his driveshaft in the qualifying rounds and was forced to retire from the race.
