The third race in the UEM-championship at Alastaro Raceway was almost a perfect success for Team VEIDEC. The Norwegian driver in the team, Kenneth Vik made it to the finals and the rookie driver Karl Lyrén once again presented a personal best time in the qualifying rounds.
For team VEIDEC the visit to Finland left them with some happy memories. Kenneth Vik made it to the finals were he lost by only 0,017 seconds to fellow countryman, Ulf Ögge. The day before Vik had been the fastest rider in the Pro Stock qualifying rounds.
For young Karl Lyrén the qualifying had also been a success. He made a new personal best time ( 07,37 sec.) which was the 6:th fastest time on Saturday.
- I´m very, very happy with my qualification. It really showed how fast my bike is, Karl said after his qualifying on Saturday.
Unfortunately Karl had some technical problems in his first race on Sunday. During his burn-out his engine died when he released the clutch. That spoiled his changes to take some championship points. The team later found out that the mishap could have been caused by the batteries. After the race Karl was given the opportunity to make one test run on the track. Then everything worked perfectly and once again Karl made a new personal record by driving the strip in 07,28 seconds. A fabulous time for the rookie.
