PSB team prepares for Alastaro.

2010-06-20

The young Karl Lyrén waits eagerly for the next race in the European Championship in the Pro Stock Bike-series. He has so far made only 17 runs with his new bike and needs a lot more to feel totally comfortable when racing.

Dragracing as every other sport is a mix of talent, practice and experience. In racing a good machine is also an important factor. In Team VEIDEC the machinery is no problem for Karl. He has also definitely the talent, otherwise he would not have made such a good time as 07.48 seconds, so early in his first season. He is also willing to practice hard both on the track and in the gym. But in motorsport the opportunity to practice are limited by the access to the racetracks and because of the costs. What Karl upmost needs are some more runs with his bike. But on the other hand he has one advantage over other rookie drivers. During the years he has accompanied his father (and now also his team manager) Roger Lyrén to the dragracing strip. He has watched, listened and learned.

– It really helps me. My ears tell me when to shift gears. Another thing that has helped me a lot is that I know all the procedures on a raceday because I have been going to races with my father for so long, Karls says.

He is really looking forward to the next UEM race in Finland at the Alastaro Circuit. He knows the track although he has not raced on it with his Pro Stock Bike.

– I know the track is a little tricky. But I have to form my own opinion after I raced on it with my Pro Stock bike . My goal is to qualify but to do so I need to brake my own personal record, Karl says.
